unlimited document types can be designed for identifying the logical document type (e.g. Purchase Order, Invoice, Payment Voucher, Memo, Site Memo, Site Diary, etc).  Each document type can be associated with different attributes to facilitate data export and search accuracy.  Lotus Domino Designer is a graphical designer client that can be used to design the fields, validation rules, listbox selections, etc.
